Do Flowers Really Heal?

Why do people take flowers to those in the hospital or send flowers to those mourning? Why are we drawn to smell the bouquet, even breathing it in deeply?

Because flowers have healing qualities. They make us feel better. They lift our moods, calm our nerves, balance our emotions. When we achieve balance the body is then able to calm and heal from the inside out. We have such a vast variety of plants and flowers that can help bring balance to our emotions, moods, and personalities. Who wants to wait to get flowers only when they are already sick? Wouldn't it be wonderful to achieve balance with a little flower each and every day?

This is possible with flower essences. I have been studying these flower essences for many years now. I have used them myself and found them to be amazing at balancing my emotions.

Flower essences are all natural, very dilute solutions made from spring water, an alcohol preservative, and the parts of specific flowers. They have been successfully used with both people and animals.

The flower essences are a safe, gentle and subtle means of restoring balance and thus allowing the body a chance to regain its strength and ability to fight illness through its own natural healing process.

Unlike dangerous drugs and tranquilizers which mask emotional stress, the flower essences act as catalysts to alleviate the underlying emotional causes of stress. Instead of treating the symptoms, lets get to the root of the problem. The essences can be used with other treatments without interference.

Common sense and numerous research studies have shown how stress can have a negative impact on the immune system. Anything that we do to reduce or relieve stress, including use of Flower essences has the potential to positively affect our immune system and thus aid in maintaining physical health. It has also been shown that those in a positive emotional state have recovered quicker from illness.

Don't wait until you get sick to get your flower fix!

Healthy Coffee? Yes, I found it...

This information comes from the coffee company...

Ganoderma, or Red Reishi, Coffee might help to improve your health. Its biggest medical benefit is the way it strengthens your immune system. It can be considered a preventative medicine instead of a treatment for a certain disease.

Switching from your regular caffeinated coffee to Ganoderma makes sense due to its ability to improve the function of the immune system. It is said to help the body adapt to many types of body stresses such as trauma, sleep deprivation, temperature, exposure to toxins, psychological stress, infection, or radiation. It helps the organisms in the body return to a normal, balanced state after illness.

Red Reishi or Ganoderma coffee, acts as regulator that fine-tunes our immune systems. Its main purpose is to detect pathogens such as bacteria and other viruses that attack the body.

A compromised immune system can develop viruses, parasites, bacteria and fungi that cause disease. Repeated use of common antibiotics, anti-viral agents, and anti-fungal medications can cause microbes to develop a resistance to the medications. Consuming red Reishi can eliminate these problems and is gaining popularity among many as an adjunct to combating the disagreeable side effects of radiation and chemotherapy associated with cancer treatment.

Red Reishi has exceptional anti-stress qualities that can help improve memory, reduce tension and sharpen your concentration. It is particularly helpful in the treatment of degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimers and dementia that affects the elderly.

Ganoderma or Reishi has been around for many centuries. Originally consumed by emperors and royalty as the a miracle herb, many westerners have overlooked it until recently.

Some of the many health benefits of Ganoderma are its antioxidant effects on the body, the positive effects on circulatory system and respiratory tract. It has been shown to lower high blood pressure, balance cholesterol levels and reduce the symptoms of bronchitis, asthma and other lung problems.

Scientist have studied Ganoderma use as a treatment for cancer, insomnia, arthritis, and many other diseases.

Used for years in Japan and China as a licensed medical treatment, Reishi is often used for its calming and sedative effects. Research among United States, UK, China and Japan prove the unparalleled benefits of this miracle mushroom when used in healing and holist health.

So what exactly is Ganoderma? Ganoderma Lucidum is the scientific name for a species of red mushroom cultivated and grown wild in Asia for thousands of years. The reishi mushroom has been expensive and hard to find in large quantities until recently. The Reishi mushroom only grows on one specific tree in Asia. Scientist are now cultivating the mushroom indoors. This mushroom has more than 200 active elements known to improve health.

Some other benefits of using or drinking Ganoderma coffee are:

1. Balances blood sugar levels and pancreatic functions.
2. Protects against skin cell degeneration, improving skins texture and reducing appearance of aging
3. Eliminates toxins accumulated in the body
4. Increases metabolism
5. Reduces fatigue
6. Contains anti-oxidants that inhibit damaging free radicals
7. Helps unclog arteries and supports liver function
8. Boosts energy
9. Improves the digestive system
10. Relieves sinus congestion and other respiratory problems
11. Rejuvenates body tissues and cells
12. Boost all body functions
13. Beautifies the skin by improving vitality
14. Effectively aids in the healing of skin wounds, scrapes, psoriasis, mouth ulcers, external bleeding, bug bits and stings.

Consuming Ganoderma coffee can help your body heal back to a balanced state while rejuvenating your skins youthful appearance. And there are no known side effects! No wonder the Chinese have regarded it for hundreds of years as the miracle herb!

One Week Challenge To Begin Your Journey To Better Health

Ever notice that we tend to “binge” when we feel stressed.  This is because the sad, anxious and depressed feelings we have may lower levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin.  Serotonin brightens our mood and when levels are low, we tend to crave foods loaded with fat and sugar. That’s because fat and sugar stimulate serotonin production.  Unfortunately, they also tend to promote excess weight.

If the binging we did when we felt stressed involved eating naturally sweet foods like fresh fruits and good fats like almonds and walnuts, it probably wouldn’t contribute to weight gain. But most of the time people binge on empty calorie foods such as candy, soda pop, chips, ice cream and donuts, cookies and other pastries made with white flour, refined sugar and processed fats.

These empty calorie foods don’t give us the vitamins and minerals that the body needs to deal with stress.  Instead, they deplete the reserves of critical nutrients, causing us to feel even more unable to cope with what’s troubling us.

So, if you get cravings for junk food when you're stressed, there are vitamin and herbal supplements that will relieve those cravings by lifting your serotonin levels.

I did a test on myself. I filled a large basket with fruit on the kitchen counter for my snacks. I promised myself 1 week without processed flour, sugar, and other processed foods. I ate small meals with balanced protein/carb/veggy combinations to control my low blood sugar, then everytime I got hungry or had a craving during the day/night I went to the fruit basket for my snack. During this same time I took a short walk each day and took some good quality adaptogens to block stress hormones. By the end of the 1st week I had so much more energy and a much more positive outlook. As a bonus I was 2 pounds lighter.

The second week I told myself I could eat whatever I wanted. I had some processed foods, some processed sugar, etc. Within 4 days I was feeling tired and sluggish and not 'on top' of things. Of course, I found the 2 pounds that were lost.

By doing this actual test you will teach your brain to choose the fruit and healthy food so you will feel better. No one wants to feel tired and sluggish on purpose. We all would choose to feel energetic, happy, and 'on top' of our responsibilities.

Needless to say the 3rd week I refilled that fruit basket and went back to the plan that I tested out the 1st week. Including the small healthy meals/snacks, moderate exercise, and the vitamins/herbs. If you want to be 'on top' of your game you must...

1) feed yourself the right fuel
2) burn off some of those calories
3) lower your stress levels
4) increase your happy hormones
5) live with a purpose

But not necessarily in that order. When you are under extreme stress those steps may be impossible to take without lowering those stress levels first. This may mean adjustments to your lifestyle and thinking. To help with that process there are some amazing adaptogenic herbs that will block the stress hormones from flooding into your system and give you that inner calm and peace that you need in order to make the right food choices as well as right life choices.

This may be a long process for me since I have recently endured a long period of extreme stress that was out of my control. I have a lot of healing to do to restore my central nervous system to good health. I have promised myself to go on this journey to better health and happiness and share it with my friends and family along the way. I challenge you to try the same test that I used on myself and let me know what results you find. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Are You Passing The Stress Test? (Part 2)

Before reading this article please take a deep breathe, thank you! Now, if you have been under stress for an extended period of time your nervous system can become depleted. You may be feeling burned out, or have nervous exhaustion. If you stick out your tongue and it is shaky or you hold your arms straight out in front of you and your hands are shaky then your nervous system is definately in need of repair. This happens when the nervous system can not handle any more stress. At this point it is imperative that you take some time to take care of yourself. You must strengthen your nervous system in order to be able to deal with lifes daily stresses.

There are 3 particular areas that will help you cope with stress...

1) Good Nutrition
2) Physical Exercise
3) Natural Remedies

Let's begin with...

1) Good Nutrition...as I mentioned in (part 1) a higher level of stress/performance requires a higher level of nutrition. Eat...Good whole foods...fresh fruits/veggies/grains. Avoid....caffeine, alcohol, processed flour and sugar.

Here are some suggested vitamins to help deal with stress...

Extra B complex...
Vitamin C and pantothenic acid for your adrenal glands
Magnesium/Calcium for sensitivities (2 or 3 part Magnesium to 1 part Calcium)
Amino Acids are important for nerves and hormones
Anti-oxidants for cleaning up free radicals
Digestive enzymes since stress suppresses your ability to absorb nutrients

2) Physical exercise...we all know that moderate physical exercise reduces stress. This could be as simple as a daily walk. Some gentle stretching exercises will help with those muscles that are all knotted up. Begin slowly...maybe 10 minutes of walking the 1st day and then add just a bit more each day. Before you know it you're up to 30 minutes a day. After that 30 minutes you are going to feel so good you'll want that 30 minutes every day. This is a great time to focus on your breathing. If you're walking outside take time to notice the beauty around you. This can be incredibly calming.

3) Natural Herbal Remedies..for supplements there are 2 types of herbs that may help with stress.

A) Nervings...these are calming herbs...

1) Kava-Kava...helps relieve anxiety, gives you relaxed clear thinking without putting you to sleep.
2) Valerian...helps relieve anxiety but also acts as a sedative, makes you sleepy. However, it can have a stimulating effect on some.
3) Passion Flower...helps stop that mental chatter that sometimes keeps you awake at night.

B) Adaptogens...these herbs reduce the stress hormones that your body is releasing. When your brain perceives danger stress hormones are released, whether that threat is real or imagined doesn't matter. Adaptogens will balance those stress hormones and give your adenal glands some rest. This is vital to recovery. When your body perceives that you are in danger or 'panic' mode your system is flooded with stress hormones that create more panic and shut down clear thinking and cause you to react on impulse. When you calm down the nervous system you are able to think clearly and react appropriately. Stress hormone overload also causes weight gain, especially in the belly. When these hormones are imbalanced it is virtually impossible to lose weight...

1) Nervous Fatigue...soothes and supports the nervous system.
2) Nutri-calm...soothes nerves, aids in relaxation and restful sleep for calm relaxed energy.
3) Adrenal Support...for sever burnout. Helps the body to regulate stress.
4) Cordyceps/Ganoderma...helps with positive mood, refreshing deep sleep, increased mental focus, stronger immune system.

Anytime you are feeling anxious or stressed the quickest way to calm the nervous system is with breathing exercises.

1) Sit with your feet relaxed but flat on the floor. Breathe in and say to yourself (I am) breathe out and say (relaxed) and repeat this 7-10 times. This tells the nervous system to calm down.

2) Sit with your feet relaxed but flat on the floor. Count to 10 as you inhale, then pause for a count of 10, then count to 10 as you exhale, then pause for a count of 10. This can give you instant control over stress/emotions.

The good news is that pleasurable time does more good for your body than the damage that stress causes so you can repair and rebound. Here's your homework...make a list of 10 things that give you pleasure. Your prescription...do 1 of these things every day. This is your recovery time. You will be more productive if you allow your body to rebound from stress on a daily basis. This rebound time will sharpen your thinking while it relaxes your nerves and muscles. Some ideas for things you may enjoy...a bath, sewing, massage, music, painting, sports, games, walking, etc. Doesn't matter what the activity is as long as it gives you pleasure and you do it at least 15-20 minutes per day.

In conclusion I would like to add that we all need to learn to kill the ants...
a=automatic  n=negative ts=thoughts
Negative thoughts cause stress and anxiety. Learn to kill the ants and try to think positively.
Practice good posture to improve your attitude and smile with your eyes like you really mean it!
Have a thankful attitude and do an act of kindness for someone today.

Are You Passing The Stress Test? (part 1)

There is no way of escaping all stress in our lives. But we can learn to deal with stress and not let it take over our lives and destroy our health. Symptoms of stress destroying our health are as follows...

chronic muscle tension
shallow breathing
eye strain
high blood pressure
fast heart rate
digestion problems
mental fog
overly emotional
confusion
forgetful
no longer able to cope
restless sleep
disturbed dreams

These are all warning signs that you need to make adjustments in your lifestyle or thinking. When you are in a difficult situation you have a choice: (1) think of it as a challenge and look for a solution or (2) view it as stress that you can not deal with. The choice is yours (1) positive thinking or (2) negative thinking. If you want to be negative and wallow in your problems you are going to destroy yourself.

From a nutritional point of view...a higher level of stress/performance requires a higher level of nutrition. Eating junk food when you are stressed only compounds the stress whereas eating fresh fruits and veggies gives your body the nutrition it needs to counteract the stress. Some use caffeine or alcohol to push their body beyond its limits. This only creates more stress on the body. Listen to your body...if it says "I can not go any further" then it needs rest and nutrition to repair. Forcing the body beyond its limits will only cause further damage.

If you want to be productive you must first take care of the body itself. With proper nutrition and moderate physical exercise along with a reduction of emotional stress you can become more productive than you ever thought possible. How do we reduce the emotional stress? You must let go of what you can not control and take care of one day at a time. Matthew 6:34..."Never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Sufficient for each day is its own badness."  Live in "the day". Let go of the past..it cannot be changed. Worrying about the future is a waste of time and energy. This is not to say we shouldn't have goals, of course we should. But we should not waste energy thinking of all the negative "what if's" that could happen in the future.

What about the stress of the bad economy? What at this moment are we lacking? Do we have food, shelter, and clothing? These are the only necessary things and Jehovah promises to provide these necessities if we are doing his will. Matthew 6:33 says "Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness and all these other things will be added to you". People who keep their life simple and are not concerned with accumulation material possessions are much happier people with less stress. Advertising conditions us to think that we have to aquire 'things' to be happy. 'Things' are not what bring happiness, rather, happiness comes from living your life with a purpose and knowing you are making Jehovah's heart glad.

The next article I write will cover some practical tips to repair the damage that may already be done from an extended period of stress.
